Description
Auckland went through a big housing boom in the early 2000 for quite a number of years. The Capital Gain has been tremendous.
In this painting, I thought of the many issues involved during that time… the Prime Minister wanted to sell off our National assets like the Airport, and I disagreed so I wrote Not For Sale above the Auckland and Airplane sign.
This painting also tells of the busy people working till late in the city and the blue face represented their loved ones waiting for them at home.
If you look closely, there is a shadowy figure of a Maori man doing the Haka.
