Freedom From Within
As a child I had zero confidence, It all happened when I overheard my parents wishing that I was born a boy when I was aged 4. it made me feel unwanted, unloved and ugly because I was a girl. Outside of my home, I didn’t have a voice and life was painful. I turned to books , Enid Blyton was my favourite and I identified with Georgina who was known as George because she wanted to be a boy in the famous series called Famous Five.
When I was 17 and I discovered God’s Love and His creation of me… I was blown away and set free by the Truth. I wasn’t a mistake after all! When I started believing that I was created with purpose, this knowledge set me free from within. I bloomed into a confident woman and over the years, found my feminine self.
This piece of my art shows me sitting on books which were my friends growing up. The birdcage is the symbol of my own caged feelings and the free birds flying about represent freedom. Flowers became my symbol of me enjoying my feminine side. I hope I get to share the message to other girls who are ashamed of being a woman, to know that they are supposed to embrace how they are made and to bloom for God’s glory!
